THE METROPOLIS SERIES

This series explores the merging of natural and human made environments

This series explores the contrasts between fluidity and lack of control within nature, vs the rigidity and organization of modern life. Shapes embrace the natural curves, flaws and branding found in leather hides are contrasted with hand cut pieces that form grid patterns, mimicking the contrast found in all modern cities.

Hand cut black leather, a byproduct of Norwegian Wood furniture production, are turned into works of abstract art.

Each piece is created using archival quality glue on untreated lumber or canvas, and finished with a setting spray. This allows the leather to breath, but also protects it.

The belief that every part of the animal should be used drives us to save every scrap of leather from our production process and puts them to use here.
